For Lent I committed to a daily practice of words. Some days it’s merely a discipline. Other days it’s a healing oil of untold story. But everyday it’s simply my own Lenten journal: a practice toward resurrection.

I have read Psalm 37 daily for the past 26 days. It’s been my go-to. A rock to stand on. A branch to provide shade. A refuge to hide within. A tune to whistle. A poem to recite. A thought to ponder. A safe place. A reminder of what I know to be…while trying to awaken from the slumber of the “airy claims.”
Today I read it again…and just like every other day…it’s a different word capturing my imagination for the day.
37-38 Keep your eye on the healthy soul, scrutinize the straight life; There’s a future in strenuous wholeness. But the willful will soon be discarded; insolent souls are on a dead-end street.
39-40 The spacious, free life is from God, it’s also protected and safe. God-strengthened, we’re delivered from evil—when we run to him, he saves us.
