Wednesday Poll

February 11, 2009 6 comments

Recently I have been re-reading Richard Foster’s book Celebration of Discipline. It seems that superficiality is the curse of our culture. Foster often says in the book that the doctrine of instant satisfaction is the primary spiritual problem. I love this quote found in the book…

“I go through life as a transient on his way to eternity, made in the image of God but with that image debased, needing to be taught how to meditate, to worship, to think.”

So today, I am looking for some feedback…(the comments are open too). How about some honesty and vulnerability…

New Question

I love what has happened here the last few days. It is very helpful to hear from you. I am recognizing some of the areas we need to talk more about here at nbc. Today (sorry it is a little late in the day) I am wanting to change the topic a little…so here is a new question.

What is the most misunderstood theology in your life? What part of the Christian theology do you struggle the most with? What do you question or wish you knew more about?

No wrong answers…be honest.

Today I read the book of Romans.

One of the many places I paused and reflected on today were the words of Paul in 15:20-21.

It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation. Rather, as it is written:
”Those who were not told about him will see,
and those who have not heard will understand.”

I guess if I were to summarize how I want to define my life this would be a great couple of verses. I want to live my life helping people see the truth of a Creator who became Savior…so that they may see, understand, and live as they were created to live.
