When God Cries..

  • Yesterday I cried more than I have cried in the last 6 months. Seriously, like a baby…cried. In church. While I was trying to preach. It was awkward to watch I am certain…
  • We were talking about the big picture in the book of Exodus. The God of deliverance calls us into the way of life to include us in the amazing mission of God. The question is…how are we going to respond to that call?
  • I cried because I was a Father broken over the loving actions of my son.
  • Only later did I recognize the emotion that captured me…is the same emotion that captures God as He invites us into the shared ministry of redemption on earth. It overwhelms Him. It motivates Him. It moves Him into action.
  • At the end of the message we called people to commit to this work…the work of the church. For some it was a bit weird to place money on the altar…but it was an incredible reminder that all that we have is His…and that to covenant with a provider God is to “exchange belts.”
  • Yesterday we also did what we probably do best…eat. Our annual Thanksgiving dinner was great…and whoever brought the smoked and fried turkeys…you win. mmmm….
  • We are beginning to be a community that values our shared stories more than we value the number of people who attend. I loved watching people hang out, talk, tell stories of what God is doing in them, and celebrate life together as family in Christ. This is church…the community of Christ.
  • Yesterday I think God cried…overwhelmed by His children living out His love.
