Monday Morning Musings
- I love preaching through the beatitudes in Mathew 5…yesterday we talked about the “meek inheriting the earth.” The key to the meek life is to live second…to let Christ lead, and be King. When we take over control it inevitably turns into a mess…it is only when we let Christ lead that we find real meaning and happiness. Here is a great post reminding us that we are not in control.
- I’ve heard some incredible Kingdom Experiment stories within the church…share yours and read others at www.thekingdomexperiment.com.
- I am reading The Broken Hearth by William Bennett. He attempts to describe the forgotten purposes of marriage and family within our western culture. In an upcoming series (October) we will be talking (very transparently) about family, marriage, relationships…and what our selfishness does to the sanctity of those relationships. I have been praying about this series for a couple of months…I believe it will present truth that will set us free. You need to be here…and so do all of your friends and family.
- Big kudos to James with the new fliers (or bulletins…whatever you want to call them) at church. James officially started working for the church today…his role is to help us communicate both within the church and out. Glad you’re here James.
- In a few weeks…at the end of The Kingdom Experiment, we will be asking people to sacrifice. These kinds of conversations often make me nervous…but today I read a great quote from Perry Noble that is what I needed to hear: “I don’t believe anyone has ever sacrifice anything for God. Sure, we make temporal sacrifices. But let me ask a question: if you always get back more than you gave up have you really sacrifice anything at all? The think the answer is no! In the words of Jim Elliot, ‘He is no fool who loses what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.’”
- Have I said recently how much I love being a pastor at nbc…God is at work…and great things are happening…
