Put your hands up…
Moses was an incredible leader…can you imagine leading two million people in the middle of a desert without the help of some modern tools. Think about the communication problems, no Internet, no blogging, no email, no church management software…seriously, how would he motivate the troops and keep the moral of the people high? Maybe he could schedule a press conference and cast some vision through the local media…oh, that’s right…no video either.
Do you want to know his leadership secret? Here it is…put your hands in the air and when people see them they will know where to go, when to fight, and when to retreat….
Seriously, read it in Exodus 17…while marching around in the wilderness, Moses and his followers ran across the Amalekites…and apparently they didn’t get along too well, so they started fighting each other.
Verse 11 says that when Moses held up his hands his people were winning, but when he let his hands down, the Amalekites were winning.
It was more than just Moses physically keeping his hands in the air…it was the symbol of what it meant to the Israelites that is most important.
They had witnessed many times before the relationship Moses had with God…they knew when Moses was in-tune with God’s plan…nothing was impossible (after all, they watched the sea part, water flow out of a rock, and bread fall from the sky).
The hidden message is the confidence they had in God. They knew the battle was theirs to win as long as Moses was connected with God. His uplifted hands were a symbol of his dependence and communication with God.
Is there anything to difficult for God? Is there anything that HE cannot do?
Seriously, answer the above questions… IS THERE ANYTHING?
Ok, then move forward…do what you know God is asking you to do. It isn’t in your strength or your ability…your victory is found in your dependence on a God who CAN.

No, nothing he can not do—even stop the flow of rain into the basement at 3 am!!!!
