Spiritual Leadership
I read a lot about leadership…some of the most impactful books in my life have been leadership books. Mainly because leadership is so closely tied to the character and integrity of a person. Today I was re-reading parts of Spiritual Leadership by Blackaby and was inspired by his definition of leadership. Here are the notes from my reading today:
Blackaby defines spiritual leadership as: “Spiritual leadership is moving people on to God’s agenda.”
- Leaders move people from where they are to where God wants them to be.
- Leaders pray.
- Leaders are aware that only the Holy Spirit can ultimately accomplish the spiritual task.
- Leaders stay accountable by leading from the servant role.
- Leaders are responsible for influencing all people, not just Christians.
- Leaders seek to understand God’s vision for today…not your own ideas and dreams.
- Leaders always put others before themselves.
- Leaders love people.
- Leaders believe God made them and placed them and are confident in their identity.
