Over the last week my life has been consumed with addiction. Helplessly, I have watched a friend of mine struggle with drug addictions. He wanted to be free but couldn’t break through the invisible wall of self-doubt controlling his efforts. He has tried rehab after rehab, sought counseling, was prayed over and supported by the church…but nothing seemed to stick.

A week ago he began a new journey…we checked him into a year-long spiritual based drug program. He was immediately required to quit smoking, a synthetic heroin and frequent cocaine use. I have to admit, I didn’t think he could survive what the withdraw symptoms would do to him…so, we began to pray that God would take away the withdrawal and cravings.

I saw him this morning and asked him how it was going. He said that over the past week not once has he experienced withdraw or cravings.

I guess God’s detox works a little better than ours.
